Data-enabled Design

M2.1 elective: Data-enabled Design

During the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of people have to work, study and live indoors and managing a good indoor air quality is becoming more important. Following the Data- enabled Design process, this study focuses on design to positively influence the behavior of adults in improving air quality in their home study environment by raising awareness of indoor air quality. Through deploying in the contextual and informed phase, insights were used to create an informed design. Our insights point towards an increase of awareness in air quality through the data probe. However, there was a need for more explanation of the data output. Future research could explore whether such preferences also hold for different households (e.g. families) and different working or studying environments (e.g. universities, offices).
